“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”. Martin Luther King
GH ONE TV anchor Serwaa Amihere has been back lashed by section of social media handlers following an interview between herself and Oppong Nkrumah the information minister on Wednesday.
From the interview which has gone viral on social media, the presenter was asking the Minister about the Emile Short Commission’s report and recommendations on Ayawaso West Wuogon bye- election which doesn’t go down well with her at the end.
“There is also a growing perception that the president is not interested in punishing wrong doing in this country and the Ayawaso West Wuogon violence has been put forward as an example,why haven’t the people who participated in that violence punished yet”?.Serwaa Amihere asked.
“Which people and what was the recommendation of the punishment which has not been expected yet”? The Minister’s response
The above response from the Minister to Serwaa’s question made it appeared as though she lose control of the interview and social media users could not forgive her short coming and descended heavily on her with some questioning the criteria media houses use in recruiting their staffs.
These attitude by the critics could make the presenter frustrated and even ruin her career if she is not mentally tough. Journalists are also humans just like any other professions.
Serwaa Amihere is a human and capable of doing a mistake just like any other one can do, she has messed up but this doesn’t mean she didn’t know her job. Knowledge is not the repository of any single person and therefore those critics from social media users are uncalled for.
We should focus on the positive side of issues rather than the negative aspects.
Below are some of the comments by critics on social media;
Serwaa paaaaa. You failed the Fundamentals of journalism- research b4 interviews. And when you are caught off guard you say we should ignore the lopsided kominini of party fanatics. Sister, the same effort you put in your looks before a TV show, do same with research.
